The Zone – Opening party for Gothenburg International Film Festival
Jan 2014 at Pustervik, Gothenburg
GIFF, the leading film festival in the Nordic countries, asked Naïvité to curate the official opening party. The theme for the festival was Russia, so we decided to work with the Russian moviemaker Andrej Tarkovskij as a source of inspiration. In Tarkovskij’s artistry, slow scenes, poetic landscapes, magic realism, nature romanticism are recurring themes. We collaborated with 12 upcoming artists and 5 actors, and together we created site-specific installations, performances, lighting, soundscapes, contemporary dance performances, fashion design, food and drinks. We aimed to transform the environments of Pustervik, a restaurant and a concert venue, to the Zone, a place taken from Tarkovskij’s movie Stalker (1979).
